Responsibilities

The Planning Department is responsible for implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, amending the zoning and subdivision codes to align with the Comprehensive Plan, processing site-specific land use permits (Conditional Use Permits, design review, floodplain, among others), reviewing building permits for zoning code compliance, and other land use and community development related activities.

Services

Planning staff believe in working collaboratively with design and development professionals. Staff planners are available via phone and to meet in person or on site to discuss projects of all sizes at any stage of development – from initial concept to entitlement to construction. We host a weekly Development Review Committee meeting with representatives from all city departments in order to give feedback on projects in the pipeline and under construction.
