Election Information
Election day is Tuesday, November 4th - note that voters in Precinct 001 (North Blaine County) will now vote at Ketchum City Hall (Election Day only).
On the Ketchum ballot this year: Form of Government.
-
An adequate number of signatures collected by a community member were validated by the Blaine County Clerk to include a ballot measure that could change Ketchum’s current “mayor-council” form of government to a “council-manager” form of government.
-
If approved by a majority (over 50%) of Ketchum voters, the measure would affect how the mayor and council positions would be filled this year.
-
No mayor would be elected from the ballot this fall, the total number of City Council seats would increase from four to five, and all five council positions (even if currently filled) would be immediately up for reelection and filled by votes for candidates from this fall’s ballot if the measure passes.
-
The five City Council candidates on the ballot who receive the most votes would be appointed to these positions—the three receiving the most votes would serve 4-year terms, and the remaining two would serve two-year terms.
-
After the new council members are sworn in, the City Council will then appoint one member to serve a 2-year term as mayor.
-
-
If the measure is not passed, the positions of mayor and two open city council seats would be filled in the same manner as past elections, with the majority of votes on this fall’s ballot.
