Welcome to the City of Ketchum Election Information page. 

Interested in becoming a Candidate?

Please use the Declaration of Candidacy packets - available here - to delcare your candidacy.
Fill out your information and complete the Petition of Candidacy or pay the $40 filing fee (cash or check only).

Completed forms are to be turned in to City Clerk at Ketchum City Hall (191 5th Street West).

  • The Declaration of Candidacy deadline is Friday, September 8th, at 5 PM.
  • The Write-in Declaration of Candidacy deadline is also Friday, September 8th, at 5 PM.
  • If a candidate would like to withdraw their petition for candidacy, they will need to submit a withdrawal form to the City Clerk on or before September 22, at 5pm. Please inform the City Clerk (tdonat@ketchumidaho.org) if you choose to withdraw ASAP.

Important dates:

  • August 27 - September 3 Notice of Filing Deadline published by city clerk.
  • August 28 at 8:00 am City Candidate filing opens.
  • September 8 at 5:00 pm Candidate filing deadline.
  • September 8 at 5:00 pm Write-in candidate filing deadline for city candidates.
  • September 15 Deadline for the city clerk to certify candidates.
  • September 18 at 5:00 pm Ballot Question Submission deadline
  • October 16 - November 3 Early Voting
  • October 27 at 5:00 pm Absentee Ballot Request deadline
  • November 7 Election Day
  • November 14 Canvass of Votes
  • November 17 Deadline for City Clerk to issue certificates of Election, this should be done immediately after county canvass.

Registering to Vote

The cutoff for pre-registration is 24 days before an election. You can register to vote online at Vote Idaho or in person at the Blaine County Election Office. 

Election Day registration is available during early voting and on Election Day.  If your current physical address is shown on your driver's license, that is all you need to register. If your current address is not shown on your driver's license, you must bring proof of residency that is at least 30 days old (power bill, car registration, insurance, paycheck, bank statement, etc.). You can check your voter registration status online at Vote Idaho.

Voting Requirements

In order to vote, you must either present a photo ID or sign a Personal Identification Affidavit. Please refer to Blaine County Elections website for acceptable forms of photo identification.

Early Voting

Early voting will be available at the Elections Office October 16th through November 3rd, 8 AM-5PM, Monday through Friday. Absentee ballots will be mailed out beginning October 10th. Voters can mail or drop off their absentee ballot to Blaine County Elections Office or 
the drop box on the east side of the Old Courthouse.

Absentee Ballot

Please request an absentee ballot online at Vote Idaho website. If you have trouble with the website, please fill out the paper form and return it to via email, mail, or drop off at the Blaine County Elections Office located at 206 1st Ave S. Ste 100, Hailey, ID 83333-8429. The last day for the Clerk's office to receive written requests for absentee ballots is 11 days prior to the election. The deadline to return ballots to the Clerk's office is always 8 p.m. on election night.  

Polling Location

Precincts 3 & 4, North Ketchum and South Ketchum, will now vote at The Community Library, located at 415 Spruce Avenue N. Ketchum, ID 83340.
