New City Council Public Comment Rules Now in Effect
Attendees can comment on any topic when meetings commence, and on specific agenda items throughout City Council meetings.
Mayor Pete Prekeges proposed new public comment rules to council members during the special City Council meeting on Thursday, January 8. The proposal allows meeting attendees an opportunity to provide public comments during an “open mic” period at the beginning of all City Council meetings. Public comments during this period would be allowed on any topic for up to one minute per person. Attendees would also be allowed to comment on agenda items throughout the meeting, up to three minutes per person.
After deliberation, City Council members agreed with the proposal, and the changes were made effective immediately.
“I would like to start our meeting with an open mic, where anyone who wants to talk about any topic can do so, like in the old City Hall.
— Mayor Pete Prekeges
The new public comment rules are now in effect for all upcoming City Council meetings. Comments may also be submitted via email at participate@ketchumidaho.org.
