Temporary One-Block Leadville Avenue Closure Scheduled for Work at The Observatory Sun Valley Hotel

Temporary road closure and traffic impacts will occur on the block of Leadville Avenue adjacent to the Observatory Sun Valley, A Viceroy Resort hotel project, to adjust utilities and roadway access to the property. The hotel must complete the work within the public right-of-way ahead of its anticipated opening later this summer.

The City understands construction activity and traffic impacts can be frustrating and appreciates the community’s patience. This construction is permitted as part of the hotel’s approved construction plans and will be conducted by the developer. The city will work closely with the developer to ensure every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain safe access throughout the project.

Access to businesses and residences will remain open throughout the project; however, access may be temporarily redirected or managed by on-site crews. Per the Idaho Transportation Department’s recent updates, north and southbound travel lanes on Highway 75 due south of town at the Trail Creek bridge are scheduled to reopen on May 21, providing drivers with a more convenient nearby detour.

Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists are encouraged to:

  • Follow posted detour signs and directions from traffic control personnel
  • Avoid parking in restricted areas during construction hours
  • Use caution when traveling through the work zone

WHEN: Through early July (weather permitting)

WHY: This work is necessary for the Observatory Hotel to complete utility and roadway access prior to opening later this summer.
