Parking in Ketchum

The City of Ketchum strives to provide safe, efficient and convenient parking options to residents, commuters and visitors.  Due to the high demand for parking in the peak seasons of economy, we ask that people please consider public transportation, walking, or riding a bike or skateboard to access downtown.

If you must use a vehicle, please keep the following points in mind:

PARKING IN GENERAL

To promote a business-friendly downtown, the City works to keep our 2-hour time restricted parking spaces available. People working in the downtown, and visitors on an extended stay, are encouraged to park in the non-time restricted locations, including the areas west of First Avenue or north of Fifth Street. The off-street parking lots located at Washington Avenue and First Street or Leadville Avenue and Fifth Street are also great options for parking more than 2 hours.
Additional WINTER parking details found here and below.

PAID PARKING

The Washington Avenue and Leadville Avenue off-street parking lots require payment using the kiosks located in each lot or the Flowbird app. The City uses a pay-by-plate system, so please remember that vehicle license plates must be entered when parking.

Currently, the first three hours of parking are free in the Washington Avenue lot. Users must still register their plates when parking for the free three hours.

Please see the below tables for additional information on our paid parking lots:

PARKING PERMITS

Currently, the only parking permits available are through our paid parking lots on Washington Avenue and Leadville Avenue. They are only offered as monthly permits. The cost for a monthly permit during peak seasons is $120. During off peak season, the cost for a monthly permit is $60.  Please see the above tables for additional information regarding parking permits for the paid parking lots.

DON’T TALK OR TEXT & DRIVE

As a mountain town that welcomes visitors from all over the world, we encourage everyone to drive safely on our roads, keep pedestrians safe on sidewalks, and avoid a citation! The City does not allow the use of hand-held mobile devices while driving so please keep those cell phones in the glove box while driving!

NO IDLING

To keep our mountain air clean, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help our citizens save fuel, Ketchum has a 3-minute maximum idling ordinance. Please respect your neighbors lungs and turn the key when you park.

MANNER OF PARKING

A common occurrence that occurs within the City is drivers backing their vehicles into parking spots as well as parking against the flow of traffic. Ketchum has an ordinance prohibiting drivers from parking head out and parking against the flow of traffic. We ask you to please help us keep our citizens and visitors safe by adhering to this ordinance.

WINTER PARKING (options under review)

To facilitate snow removal and keep our streets safe and clear, overnight on-street parking is restricted during the winter months. Please be sure to remove your vehicle from the street by 2:00am each winter night from November 1st until May 1st. As a reminder, City crews work late even when the snow doesn't fly and equipment may be in operation during any early morning. Vehicles obstructing equipment may be towed at the owners expense. The Washington Avenue off-street parking lot allows overnight parking year-round.

PETS

Even in the shadows of Sun Valley, it gets hot during the day in Ketchum. Please remember that inside your car is even hotter! Do not leave your pets in vehicles in dangerous conditions, even with an open window.
