The City of Ketchum Announces 2025 Summer Solstice Events

Summer Solstice and Warm Springs Preserve Celebration

Longest day, lively landscape — celebrate nature, music, food, and local culture during Summer Solstice and Warm Springs Preserve Celebration events on June 23.

The City of Ketchum is pleased to announce details for this year’s Summer Solstice and Warm Springs Preserve Celebration on Monday, June 23, at Warm Springs Preserve. Events begin at 11 a.m. and will take place throughout the day. Activities are free and inspired by time-honored Ketchum traditions and nature-infused experiences, including guided yoga amidst the stunning landscape, nature and photography hikes to capture the Preserve’s beauty, and the debut of Ketchum’s first-ever Puppy Parade and Costume Contest. Into the afternoon and evening, enjoy a community picnic where nature lovers and neighbors can connect. The events will culminate with a Classical Music in the Wild™ performance by IN A LANDSCAPE, featuring acclaimed pianist and outdoorsman, Hunter Noack, set in a breathtaking forest-like setting.

Event schedule

Admission for all events throughout the day is free. Seating is limited for the concert; reservations are required.

Find your inner peace through a guided yoga session surrounded by the Preserve’s natural beauty.

3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.: Guided Nature and Photography Hikes
Explore the Preserve’s trails, flora, and fauna, and learn photography techniques while capturing picturesque views from local nature and photography experts.

4 p.m.-8 p.m.: Community Picnic
Gather with friends and family and bring your picnic gear for a laid-back afternoon of food, yard games, and nature. Bring your refreshments with you or choose from a delicious selection of wines, beer, and charcuterie items that will be available to purchase onsite from local businesses.

5 p.m.-5:30 p.m.: Puppy Costume Contest and Parade
Get your furry friends involved in the fun — bring your dog to the events adorned in your favorite themed attire. Dogs and their owners will stroll a parade route through the Community Picnic area beginning at 5 p.m. Several prizes will be awarded to outstanding participants, including for “best costume,” “best local vibe,” and “best dog/owner look-a-like.”

6:30 p.m.: Concert with IN A LANDSCAPE, A SOUNDTRACK TO YOUR OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE
Founded in 2016 by classical pianist Hunter Noack, IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild™ is the outdoor concert series where America’s most stunning landscapes replace the traditional concert hall. A 1912 Steinway Model D concert grand piano travels on a flatbed trailer to awe-inspiring natural landscapes across the West, from national parks to urban oases. Guests are encouraged to wander and explore the surrounding environment while listening to the music through wireless headphones, creating an immersive experience that fosters a connection with the music, nature, and with one another.

Concert guidelines

  • The concert will take place rain or shine, except in cases of severe weather.
  • Admission is free; reservations are required. Reserve your space online at solstice.ketchumidaho.org. Outside food and beverages, blankets and chairs, and photography are allowed.
  • Well-behaved dogs are allowed along the perimeter of the performance area.
