COVID-19 || Curve Confidence – Construction Prep

Data shows decline in COVID cases. The health of our valley is improving, and the volume of new COVID-19 cases in Blaine County is going down. CLICK HERE for the joint press release showing the EPI curve. This is tremendously encouraging, and a testament to the good work and thoughtful behavior of all. Furthermore, the medical facilities have stated they are handling the current patient loads. On a daily basis, only a handful of people are now coming in to get tested.

As the curve declines our vigilance must not. The message is clear; social distancing is working and having the desired effect. It is bringing cases down to a manageable level where hospitals can cope with severe cases. Everyone has to continue to do their part, and personal responsibility is of paramount importance. Those that are in a high-risk demographic, or are more vulnerable because of pre-existing conditions, must take additional precautions to keep themselves safe.

Careful preparation is required for an April 20 resumption of construction. Restarting construction will only happen under strict standards. Before construction can be permitted, there are a number of requirements that must be met by contractors, landscapers and service providers. CLICK HERE to see the adopted Ketchum Health Order that includes the construction standards. Simply knowing the standards is not sufficient. Contractors will have to provide an affidavit of compliance.

Safe construction starts here. Before construction can commence, there is requirement to fill out a contractor affidavit and employee certification forms. CLICK HERE for the forms and more information on all that is required to be ready for opening day.

Sign of the times. The City has prepared signage for jobsites designed to help educate site workers of their obligation under the adopted construction standards. Please come by City Hall to pick up pre-printed posters or CLICK HERE for electronic copies of the signage.

Education is the key to doing the right thing. I know that everyone wants to do their part. Our police, community service officers and building inspector will all be monitoring the situation. They will be going from site to site to advise, educate and ensure compliance. Please welcome them, but keep your distance!

Stay safe, stay well.

Cheers,
Neil
