COVID-19 || COVID Conversation

State-wide isolation order in place – we have taken it a little bit further. The Governor has issued a state-wide order to self-isolate that remains in effect until April 15. Click here to see the state order. We have taken that order and added a few additional restrictions that will hopefully help Slow it Down. This is because Blaine County is on the frontline of the battle with COVID-19, having the greatest prevalence of the virus in the state.

These are the additional measures we have taken:

  • Halted construction (residential and commercial)
  • Restricted hotels and short-term rentals from offering lodging (except to health care workers or those performing essential government work)
  • Restricted travel out of the county (or into the county)
  • Required those to self-quarantine for 14 days when coming from outside the State
  • Halted landscaping work and any other non-essential service
  • Restricted plumbers, electricians or other trades to emergency work only

County-wide cooperation clarifies the policy for all.  Working collaboratively, we have come up with a county-wide policy that is being adopted by all of the jurisdictions. This helps everyone understand what is permitted and treats everyone fairly. I am happy with the collaboration that is occurring amongst the public entities. Click here for the order that was adopted by Ketchum.

We love questions – and we answer those in our FAQs here.  It is a confusing time and we appreciate all the questions you have asked us. If you don’t see your question answered here, please email it to participate@ketchumidaho.org and we will add it to the list. This helps us, and it helps others gain clarity on actions that should be taken.

2 weeks will make a difference. The additional measures stay in effect until April 12, so we anticipate that construction will restart on Monday April 13. The State order to self-isolate remains in effect until April 15, unless otherwise extended. There is no doubt that this will have a huge economic impact on our community. I feel that this is a prudent step that we must take. I am delighted to hear of the non-profits in our valley organizing and providing support for those in need.
