New Mayor, Council Hold Open House on Public Parking in Ketchum’s Downtown Core

KETCHUM, IDAHO – Ketchum’s new Mayor and City Council have planned an Open House for residents, business owners, employees, customers and others using downtown parking.

“Whether it’s questions about paid parking lots or two-hour time limits, it’s essential to understand the impact of Ketchum’s parking policies before considering ways to better manage the issue in the future,” Mayor Neil Bradshaw said.

The Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Limelight Hotel. Bradshaw, who made community engagement a centerpiece of his campaign, said the goal of the Open House is to get input from all voices with a stake or solution to this ongoing dilemma.

“No matter how you feel about public parking in our city right now, it’s something we can all agree impacts every resident, employee, employer or visitor in some way,” Bradshaw said. “The Open House represents a real opportunity to begin making the change in the parking dynamics. It’s about engaging in a discussion on what it means to successfully solve this policy puzzle and managing the community’s resource to serve us all better.”

As part of the discussion, city leaders hope to better understand specific challenges about parking, as well as gather input on how to better manage parking for downtown employees and the new paid lots. To follow up this Open House, a public workshop will be scheduled, where ideas and input will be applied in the development of a parking plan.
